FAQs
1. How do we know when our material will be destroyed?
We commit to destroy all material either on-site or within 24-hours of collection. Customers are welcome to witness destruction either in person or via a password-protected camera on our web site.
2. Surely the Data Protection Act does not apply to my company?
The Data Protection Act applies to all companies keeping computer and manual files of customer and staff records.
3. As well as paper we have other types of confidential waste like computer discs, video tapes, account files and so on, can you handle these?
We use large heavy-duty industrial shredding systems, which destroy anything from paper and magnetic media to off-spec products.
4. We produce confidential material in various parts of our site. How would you cope with this?
Our uniformed staff are used to working in prestigious premises.
We're happy to collect material from around your site and propose the best method of storage and collection.
5. How do you dispose of shredded materials?
We're committed to recycling shredded material wherever possible.
Paper is baled and sent away for reprocessing whilst plastic and miscellaneous materials are sent to a power generation facility as fuel.
6. What benefits are there for our company in outsourcing this service? Can't we do it ourselves?
Most office shredders are slow and therefore labour intensive.
As an example, we can shred a typical trade directory in a few seconds. A typical office shredder will process 20 sheets at a time. A 1000-page directory could take days let alone hours. Office shredders require servicing and emptying - more time and expense.
7. We've heard some companies offer on-site shredding.
Do you provide this service?
Yes, we're pleased to offer customers on-site destruction.
8. How can we be sure our important company data doesn't fall into the wrong hands?
All our staff are security vetted to BS7858 standard so you can be sure anybody handling your confidential material has been properly checked. All staff comply to our Company Security Policy - copies of which are available on request. We also hold substantial insurance.
9. How do I know that my material is safe after it leaves my offices?
Our vehicles are not sign written, so we do not advertise what we are carrying. We have installed a live satellite tracking system on our vehicles. All material is offloaded inside a secure warehouse, protected by alarms, 24hr CCTV and restricted entry system.
10. Does the process involve a lot of paperwork and administration?
Once you've committed to our service, there's very little paperwork. We ask for your initial signature on our contract and each collection certificate. You are then issued with a certificate of destruction when the material is destroyed. Payment for our service can be made by credit card, cheque or BACS, so you don't even have to sign a cheque.
